Fascinating talks in a one-of-a-kind venue

What is it?

25% off a night of unique talks inside a secret London location.

When is it?

April 13 at 7pm.

Why buy?

‘Curiosity Kino’ is the latest quirky venture from Lost Lectures (they regularly host eccentric talks on mind-blowingly impressive topics across the city). This time, they’re bringing glitz and glamour from a bygone era to a vintage cinema. Expect red carpets and roaming paparazzi as well as a mix of talks, music, character actors, popcorn stands and enticing cocktails.

The location will be announced closer to the event, but for now all you need to know is that this historic cinema has been dormant for the past three decades and recently reopened. So get your dicky-bow, hats and jackets on – fancy dress is advised.

Who’s on the lineup?

Andrew Whitehurst: Oscar-winning visual effects artist, known for his work on Troy, Skyfall, Paddington, Harry Potter and Ex Machina will be revealing cinema’s greatest secrets

David McCandless: Information designer and data artist known for ‘Information is Beautiful’ will be helping us understand the world through his newest infographic creations

Alexandra Ma: Journalist and specialist on China and Tech, will be explore dynamics of citizen and state and how surveillance in Xinjiang and the great social-credit ranking experiment may affect us all

Sara Gibbs: Satirist and writer (Mash Report) and a co-founder of satirical online women’s magazine (Succubus) will ask us the most pressing of political questions: ‘reality or satire’?

Alex Baranowski: Tony-nominated composer, creator of World Cup BBC Score and collaborator with Underworld, Jungle and The XX will take us on a music odyssey through samples and soundscapes

Prof. Sophie Scott: One of UK’s leading scientific voices, head for speech and communications at UCL and regular on BBC. She'll be talking about neuroscience of laughter
