A Musical Portrait Of George Gershwin With James Pearson

Discover Gershwin's music with one of London's jazz greats

Join James Pearson as he explores why Gershwin’s work is so enduringly popular for jazz instrumentalists, with anecdotes and several of his famous tunes. With over 500 songs, an opera, and the instantly recognisable Rhapsody In Blue in his catalogue, chances are you'll know and love at least a handful of George Gerwshin's compositions. His music helped to shape the 20th century, and his unique sense of rhythm and melody ensured him a place in the ranks of the great modern composers. Enjoy performances of favourites such as A Foggy Day, I've Got Rhythm, and Someone To Watch Over Me, and hear some of Gershwin's original piano music and rarely-heard song transcriptions.
