A cornucopia of rarely seen silent comedy
It's time to take a step back into cinematic history. The Kennington Bioscope returns with it's Silent Laughter Saturday, an all-day drop in event loaded with lovingly curated comedy gems from the era of the silver screen. With the programme including shorts with Charley Chase, Laurel & Hardy and more; rare features with Raymond Griffith and Walter Forde and the event concluding with Harold Lloyd’s classic Girl Shy, it's going to be an evening of unique entertainment. A piano accompaniment will come courtesy of world class silent film pianists John Sweeney, Costas Fotopoulos, Cyrus Gabrysch and Lillian Henley and there'll be presentations on silent comedy throughout. Phew. That's a whole load of silent laughter. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
"Our favourite South Londoners are at it again. Fresh from staging a triumphant weekend-long event in June, the Kennington Bioscope team promise a full day of chuckles with a comedy festival in October..."
