Alamaailman Vasarat
Bringing the sound of Finland's experimental scene to London
Tonight Alamaailman Vasarat play live as part of the Festival of Exploratory Music, which is celebrating Finland's finest musicians over four days. Their name translates as The Hammers of the Underworld, and with good reason. They make experimental world music, mixing riotous strings with a wicked horn section. Fusing gypsy folk with copious dashes of jazz and metal, the band play instruments ranging from the pump organ, cello, and alto horn. Best available seating."...when the cellos hit the distortion pedal, things get heavy, heads bang, and all Valhalla breaks out."
