Satire for the big screen
Backyard Cinema have teamed up with Camden Market to bring you their very own outdoor summer film festival set across two screens. Sink into giant beanbags and lounge on deckchairs as you enjoy a selection of films, all served with fresh burgers, craft beer, cocktails and a decent helping of live DJs. Adventure through the alleys of Camden Market to find the intimate courtyard hosting the Cuban Screen stage. Here, you will find a more unusual range of indie flicks, moving documentaries and foreign language films. Tonight’s offering is Dan Gilroy's Nightrider, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo and Bill Paxton. Los Angeles-based night-drifter Lou Bloom (Gyllenhaal) is looking for a job. After stumbling upon a pre-dawn car wreck, he spots a cameraman (Paxton) recording the carnage. Hours later, he sees the same images on the morning news. Finally, Bloom has found his calling and immerses himself into a world of film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem. "From a subdued start Nightcrawler unfurls into a ghoulish and wickedly funny satire on journalism, the job market and self-help culture." – The Guardian "If you see him Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler, you’ll have a closeup view of one of the movie year’s most compelling sociopaths. He’s something you can’t turn away from." – Time Certificate: 18. Valid ID required. Runtime: 1 hour 55 minutes. Please note that your email address will be passed to the event organiser as these details act as proof of purchase and are required to gain entry.
"Sharp, dark, satirical and bone-rattlingly thrilling."
