DocHouse presents this sad tale of a tiny brothel islandPlease note that included in your ticket price you’ll receive a free bowl of popcorn. Woot, snack time!
The scary reality off the coast of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal is that bad weather (hence the name) has created a tiny island filled with torture and despair. With men arriving by the boatloads, the women who inhabit the island are forced to sell their bodies for money. Facing increased climate change and unbearable social stigmas, the prospect of losing everything is now closer than ever before.
Bonus: after the screening, participate in a Q&A with the film’s producer, Carlotta Mastrojanni.
‘Festival pleaser that blends brothel island story and climate change warning into a winning formula.’ - Hollywood Reporter.
