Grooves to make you move at Basement Tapes' monthly residencyGet a big red pen out and prepare to mark a cross on your calendars: Basement Tapes are in Brick Lane with their monthly residency at 93 Feet East. For their upcoming event, they've got a heavy lineup of diverse, intelligent music. Trust us when we say that they've done their due diligence in sorting out this lineup.
Grimm Grimm: the new experimental folk-pop project of singer-songwriter Koichi Yamanoha. Former frontman of the cult psychedelic-punk group Screaming Tea Party, his honest, fragile, cinematic and sometimes innocent style mixes otherworldly baroque folk and ambient punk. Born in Tokyo, Yamanoha's stirring live performances have captured an essence of Japan and confession and have seen him collaborate with Bo Ningen, Faust, Serafina Steer and Le Volume Courbe.
Tall: Tall is Jonathan Foster, and Jonathan Foster is Tall. 6'6" Jonathan self-released his first solo album, Dreamscape1989, under the Tall moniker in May 2015.
John Johanna: There's a lot of mystery around Norfolk based singer-songwriter John Johanna. One thing I know is that this glorious piece of gospel tinged blues called Deep River is one of the best releases I've heard all year.
