Beats: Award-Winning Play By Kieran Hurley
Award-winning theatre takes on politics + techno
In a suburban Scottish town, there's a ban. A ban on, specifically, "public gatherings around amplified music characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats". Raving of any sort has been criminalised under the 1994 Criminal Justice Act, but that won’t stop Johnno McCreadie from coming of age, coming up, and becoming part of the glorious power of sub-culture. With a live set from DJ Hushpuppy (original mix by Johnny Whoop), expect strobe lighting and lots of techno. General admission. Over 16s only. Note: this performance contains strobe lighting."An outstanding show; clever, ruthless, compassionate, and full of political insight."
