Contemporary art from the Communist period to present day
It’s a turbulent ride through the resurgence of abstract art in the ‘60s (ancient for us, a violent regime protest for them), purposefully obscured depictions of bleak Moscow life, & even the Suprematist urinals of Alexander Kosolapov make an appearance. It’s a beautiful blend of pop & socialist realism, mischievous humour, & a big not-so-obvious eff you to the man.
‘…a tale of radical art finding a way back from Stalinist decimation.’
