Collage: An Alternative Life Drawing Experience + Lunch At Carousel
Food, drink, PVA glue, nudity and good times galore
Expect to be challenged, inspired and shocked as you learn to re-engage with the freedom and joy of creating. Taking cues from artists as diverse as Matisse to Hannah Höch and the dada-ists, this glue-spattered event will inspire, inform and encourage freedom of self expression. Re-engage with the joy of creativity, tissue paper and PVA and work to create colourful compositions working from a life model. In a series of new, experimental classes, tutor and figurative artist Dan Whiteson (FreeForm Life Drawing) and the Carousel team will be joining forces for some seriously tasty, arty afternoons. Designed for all abilities, these four-hour long sessions, specially created for Carousel's beautiful event space, will be a heady mixture of art history, performance, drawing, informal tuition and creative experimentation; all set to an eclectic playlist and framing a delicious one-course lunch and drink from the revered Carousel kitchen. Using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, Carousel head chef Ollie Templeton (ex-Moro) and his right hand men, Matt Voisy (ex St John Bread & Wine) and Tom Ryalls (ex-St John Bread & Wine and Moro), will be rustling up fresh, sophisticated food, bursting with big flavours to ensure you are in peak condition to get creative! Each month will be themed and exercises will be inspired and informed by the practises of certain artists and artistic movements. Expect to be challenged, inspired and shocked as you learn to re-engage with the freedom and joy of creating. Class breakdown: - 1 hour of art history, experimental drawing exercises and tuition based on theme - 1-hour lunch - 2-hour life drawing class inspired by theme Over 16s only. No photography permitted during life drawing section of event. Each ticket includes a one-course lunch and glass of wine.
"The fashionable way to hang out in a London pub these days is with a pencil in one hand, a pint in the other and a naked person posing a few feet in front of you."
