Who’s Afraid of Ai Weiwei? + High Tech, Low Life screeningIncluded in your YPlan ticket price, you’ll also receive a glass of house wine, bottle of beer, or a soft drink.
In ‘Who’s Afraid of Ai Weiwei?’, documentary filmmaker Alison Klayman edited the best bits from the 200+ hours of footage she shot in 2008 of China’s most famous international artist. The rest was released as a feature film called ‘Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry’. This short captures the Weiwei before his stand against the Beijing Olympics and the oppressive state he claimed it represented. Dramatic and honest.
‘High Tech, Low Life’ follows the bicycle-riding activist Tiger Temple and veg seller Zola, two of China’s first Citizen Reporters. Using high tech means to evade China’s strict (and controversial) censorship of media, they risk persecution to tell first-hand accounts of China’s untold stories.
