A dreamlike installation
A young woman enters a hotel. She is magnetic and compelling, yet strangely detached, as if in a dream. She knows everyone, yet is utterly alone; she has many lovers, but loves no one; she is 18…or is she 80? Threading its way through the maze-like basements of Shoreditch Town Hall, Absent is a multi-layered journey, mixing film, installation and a haunting soundscape by Lapalux to create an increasingly labyrinthine dream world that merges past, present and future. If Kafka was an event organiser, it'd look something like this. Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a promenade production and you will be on your feet throughout. You may go at your own pace. It's recommended that you spend a minimum of 30 minutes to experience the production, but you're free to spend as much time as you wish.
"No one could accuse Tristan Sharps and his mind-bending dreamthinkspeak company of aiming low; our theatrical ecology thrives on innovators such as him."
