The Philharmonia Orchestra performs Elgar's much-loved Enigma VariationsA majestic series of character portraits, Elgar's Enigma Variations pay heartfelt and humorous tribute to his wife, his many musical friends (and their pets) as well as his close friend and publisher, August Jaeger, the "mighty hunter" of the celebrated Nimrod variation. Yuri Temirkanov conducts this alongside Beethoven's Coriolan Overture. In-between, pianist Nikolai Lugansky performs Beethoven's emotional First Piano Concerto. This is set to be a night filled with beautiful music.
