Fan fiction comedy, written by comedians, read by comedians
Join New Zealand's brightest young comedians and guest stars for cult show Fan Fiction Comedy. The performers create comedic gems out of the internet phenomenon of fan fiction by telling their very own stories-about-stories. Hosts Heidi O'Loughlin and Steven Boyce are joined by a variety of special guests, each of whom reads out an irreverent five-minute tale based on their favourite work of film, television or literature. With new stories and guests every night, no two shows are ever the same. Previous guests include Josie Long, Norman Lovett, James Acaster and Sara Pascoe. From its beginnings at the 2011 NZ International Comedy Festival, FanFiction Comedy has grown into a global success. It first spread to Australia, attaining hit status at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and selling out venues across the country. It then cemented itself as a must-see at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe several years running. "It would be impossible not to be blown away by this staggeringly impressive line-up of New Zealand's brightest young comedy writers." – Fest, UK "If this talented group of Kiwis decided to turn their wits to writing real fiction for the screen, the future of New Zealand comedy would be in very safe hands." – Herald Sun, Australia "It’s a joyous hour of unashamed awkwardness." – The Age, Australia
"Just when you thought comedy couldn't get any geekier, along comes FanFiction Comedy."
