Fire Burn: The Tragedy Of Macbeth
The international tour of a brutal, all-female Shakespearean tragedy
The three witches meet to enact the fate of Macbeth. The scale and spectacle of Shakespeare’s original is condensed to a series of iconic visual and intimate encounters. The sisters conjure vision after vision: the man with bloody hands, the woman who walks in her sleep, the father avenging his family, the ghost of a betrayed friend. Their performance evokes a living nightmare as these tortured characters appear and disappear in the darkness to the beat of Hecate’s drums. A dramatic and eerie tragedy with some of the greatest speeches ever written in the English language. ImmerCity was originally set up in 2012 to create immersive and site-specific theatre. Since then, they have performed larger scale productions in traditional theatres such as the Gaiety Theatre Dublin and Grande Theatre Swansea. In 2015 Fire Burn performed in unique locations around the UK and Belgium. This year they are continuing the tour, to Brighton, Camden and Edinburgh Fringe, along with an immersive spin-off to Macbeth, Blood Will Have Blood. This is their second Shakespeare since the sell out show, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at the Dublin Shakespeare Festival and Edinburgh Fringe.
