Felines, photography & the web
The internet & social media may have evolved to allow the toppling of governments & global spread of freedom of speech as never before but, ultimately, most people engage in mundane online activities such as looking at cute cats.
Photographs of cats have come to dominate the web’s image culture. From the cute to the absurd, millions of cat images are viewed, modified & shared online each day.
This exhibition touches on the cute cat theory of web activism & focuses on feline photos & their social impact.
'Web 1.0 was invented to allow physicists to share research papers. Web 2.0 was created to allow people to share pictures of cute cats.' - Ethan Zuckerman.
