Tim Burton’s latest spooky-cute animated filmA remake of Burton’s 1984 short film of the same name, Frankenweenie is simultaneously a parody and homage to 1931’s Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley’s novel. Like its predecessor, the film is in black and white, and is about Victor Frankenstein’s pup Sparky who dies in a terrible car accident. Inconsolable, Victor tries a little science experiment and brings his beloved dog back to life. As the other kids in the neighbourhood discover his secret, how will it end for Frankenstein and his Franken-pup?
‘…an uncloying homage to the gothic horror films Burton loved in his youth, funny, fairly scary, extremely charming and not a minute too long.’ - The Guardian.
