The Average White Band were the kings of ‘70s funk. The Scots distinctive sound was thanks in no small part to the soaring falsetto of Hamish Stuart. The singer and guitarist, who went on to work with such artists as Aretha Franklin and Paul McCartney, is now ploughing his own furrow, complete with the funk-laden grooves that first shot him to fame. With a horn section creating an expansive sound, Hamish Stuart's solo material is monstrously huge and laden with hooks.
