Hampstead Arts Festival: Buster Keaton's The General
Celebrating art, music and literature in NW London
The Hampstead Arts Festival has come a long way since its germination in 2012. They've managed to build a strong local following and fans in London, over the country and across the pond with their engaging and interesting programme of events. This year, there'll be twenty events across Hampstead's most intimate venues. With events exploring chamber music, jazz, song, literature, politics and film, this is a prime time festival for North-West London's calendar. For this event, catch a screening of the civil war spellbinder, The General, complete with live improvisatory accompaniment by pianist Matan Porat, whose silent film work has been described by The New Yorker "an astounding feat of creative musicianship". It might be a silent movie, but this is a screening that'll speak volumes."The greatest comedy ever made, the greatest civil war film ever made, and perhaps the greatest film ever made."
