Iggyfest: Coffee And Cigarettes Screening
Celebrating the rock star with a real lust for life
Jim Jarmusch is a darling of independent cinema, dealing with unhurried narratives and lingering messages. His collection of shorts, Coffee and Cigarettes, share nicotine and caffeine in common. The vignette Somewhere in California features Tom Waits and Iggy Pop, and was filmed in 1993. In true rock star style, they celebrate quitting smoking over a celebratory ciggie. The film is introduced tonight by Andy Anderson, renowned drummer for the likes of the Cure and man of the hour, Iggy Pop. Best available seating, £8 face value plus £1 booking fee. Over 15s only.
"What unites everything is Jarmusch's playful, hang-dog absurdism."
