Big laughs, small names
Comedians are great. They make us laugh, they make us cackle. Sometimes, they even make us pee a little. But before they're popping up on panel shows and looking fancy in HD, they're jobbing away at small gigs all over the country. The back-rooms of pubs. 50 cap theatres. Glorified gazebos at boutique festivals. It's hardly The Apollo. For comedy fans, finding all these little names can be a big ask. For one night only, you can catch the very best of the crop on one massive stage, in one massive show. From over 300 entries and 37 heats, the top acts, as voted for by the comedy press, industry, and you, the audience, compete to be Leicester Square Theatre's New Comedian of the Year 2015. Now in its seventh year, previous finals have featured some of the finest up and coming acts on the circuit. 2015's finalists are: Angus Dunican, Bilal Zafar, George Lewis, Jamie W, Jethro Bradley, Jo D'Arcy, Joe Jacobs, LJ Da Funk, Louise Reay, Luca Cupani, Nigel Ng, Olaf Falafel, Svetlana the Oligarch's Wife & Yuriko Kotani. Over 18s only. Valid ID required.
"Louise Reay can legitimately claim to be unique."
