London Contemporary Music Festival: Italian Colourism
Celebrating composers that go against the grain
Three Italians combine their love of colour to make explosive music. Mark Knoop pays tribute to the work of Domenico Scarlatti, showcasing his iridescent sonatas on piano, while Salvatore Sciarrino arranges one for a string quartet. To finish, Michelangelo Pistoletto premieres his performance piece Ten Less One, and as light becomes colour he destroys the mirror image. General admission.
"...instrumental texture, where tenuous, trembling sounds are entwined with the voice in a strange, intimate or detached relationship..."
