London Sketchfest returns for its fourth annual festivalEach year London Sketchfest searches for the hottest sketch comedy acts in the country. One of the most exciting shows of the festival, the Best New Act Competition brings 12 unsigned acts together for an annual showcase of the best comedy Britain has to offer. This time around they present you with Shelf, Mid Brow, Kitten Killers and The Sketch Men.
Shelf is Rachel Watkeys Dowie, former performer with The Oxford Revue, and Ruby Clyde, former performer with The UCL Graters. They're a comedy double act from South London and friends for over a decade, who intersperse witty dialogue with sketches and songs in a winning hybrid of sketch show and stand up.
“Stars for the future.” – Broadway Baby
- Mid Brow
Mid Brow like to tread the happy middle ground between crass, base humour and jokes that only astrophysicists get. Creating comedy to tickle both your funny bone and your brain, they’re slick, witty, subtle and subversive
- Kitten Killers
Kitten Killers are a funny, sweaty, messy, political and absurd sketch trio who combine silly, dirty and surreal sketch comedy with song, dance and reckless abandon. Born out of the Soho Theatre’s Young Company they’ve gone on to perform across the UK circuit picking up rave reviews and nominations along the way.
“Weird and wonderful sketch show.” – Ed Fringe Review
- The Sketch Men
The Sketch Men is comprised of Jack Taylor-Wood and Zach Slater, born out of Duck and Cover Theatre, a company founded by the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. This sketch duo create absurd and surreal situational and character based sketches, and have their finger on the pulse of northern comedy with dark and irreverent sketches that are as eccentric as they are piercingly funny.
