Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Mad MaxFrom the people that bring you Burns Baby Burns comes a masked midsummer ceilidh celebrating the longest day, with traditions brought up to date and given an East London twist.
The evening starts with a ceilidh lesson for those who want to brush up on their baskets and spins. But as usual no previous ceilidh experience is necessary to get involved as the callers expertly lead and explain the dances before they happen.
Then there's a storming 3 hours of dancing with the Ceilidh Liberation Front – the world’s most radical ceilidh band – followed by floor-filling festival favourites Sheelanagig, the finest exponents of Eastern European and Balkan tunes, delivered at breakneck pace. Finally a guest DJ will spin tunes till 2am.
The whole evening will be hosted by part saviour of the world but all woman – Shesus. She'll also lead the assembled masses in her own rites and rituals to celebrate the glory of the sun.
As with Burns night, this is a chance to let loose as you twirl the length of what is a huge venue, perfect for a ceilidh of this magnitude.
To ring in the midsummer madness, the dress code for this event is masks.
Over 18s only. Valid ID required. Dress code: masquerade.
