A true rock legend raises the roof at The O2Earlier in the year, Neil Young joined forces with Promise of the Real to create one of his most vitriolic albums with the ecologically and environmentally-focused The Monsanto Years. Now the line-up is set to make their UK and Ireland debut with the announcement of their Rebel Content Tour and will perform at The O2 on Saturday 11 June 2016.
Neil Young and Promise of the Real’s North American dates have seen the band dust off some of the rarely heard classics from Neil’s huge back catalogue together with fiery takes on material from The Monsanto Years as well as select solo performances and other old favourites. The LA Times concluded that the show “put forth nearly three hours of blazing musical and sociopolitical fire.”
Promise of the Real are an LA-based rock band fronted by Lukas Nelson (vocals/guitar), along with Micah Nelson (guitar, vocals), Anthony Logerfo (drums), Corey McCormick (bass) and Tato Melgar (percussion). They have also previously performed with Lukas and Micah’s father Willie Nelson.
Also joining Neil will be the Brit Award-winning folk singer-songwriter Laura Marling. Hot off of the heels of a US tour and with a forthcoming sixth studio album in the works, Laura is in top form right now. Credible, critically-acclaimed and with a salubrious voice, Laura will quench any music lover's thirst.
Doors open at 6:30pm. The show starts at 7:30pm.
