What’s on the programme? ‘America in Paris Spectacular’ Thursday May 3, 7pm The St Paul’s Organ & Orchestra Spectacular has become one of London’s marquee events, as the magnificent 7246-pipe Cathedral Organ joins forces with full symphony orchestra in an American/French, French/American programme that culminates in Saint-Saëns’ classic Organ Symphony. Along the way we encounter the Barber’s epic Toccata Festiva and Gershwin’s iconic An American in Paris, complete with car horns! ‘Fast Cycles – American minimalism at the organ in St Paul’s.’ Thursday June 7, 7pm US composer Nico Muhly will join forces with organist James McVinnie and others to perform a number of gems from the world of American minamilism, including works by the legendary Steve Reich. ‘For the Common Man’ -A chance to hear the most famous Cathedral Choir in the world singing in their own unique and breathtaking space. Wednesday July 11, 7PM The renowned Cathedral Choir will be singing key American twentieth-century choral works, including Aaron Copland’s ‘Fanfare For The Common Man’ and Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Chichester Psalms’. ‘A Bite from the Big Apple’ Thursday August 2, 7pm Celebrated New York City organist Stephen Tharp will be performing a programme that includes Brahms, Elgar, Liszt, Olivier Messiaen and George Baker. ‘Holst – The Planets’ -A sonic and visual blockbusting spectacular in collaboration with the Space Visualization Studio at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the International Space Station. Thursday September 6, 7pm Gustave Holst’s iconic suite will form the finale of the programme, with choral accompaniment by St Paul’s Girl’s School – where he wrote the masterpiece. Footage from the Nasa’s Space Visualisation Studio will bring it to astonishing visual life. This is valid for one ticket to 'New Worlds' at St Pauls Catherdral.
