A revival of the musical comedy from 1943Scored by the brilliant Kurt Weill (lyrics by Ogden Nash), it’s basically about a modern art collector who unearths the long-lost statue of Venus of Anatolia. Pumped to put her on display at his museum in New York, things go awry when a barber somehow brings the statue to life. Venus chases the barber around New York, the art collector chases Venus, and everything’s appeared to run amok. But as we all know, new love sets everything straight. Or so you think.
