Louis Savage's new exhibition centres around the benefits and disadvantages of isolation. The British painter digs deep into Japanese history and tradition to find inspiration for his new body of work. Kurofune means "blackships" in Japanese, a symbol of the isolation era coming to an end – a name given to Western ships arriving in Japan between 16th and 19th centuries.
