Opening show for the opera sensationIt's back: Opera Danube are returning to St John's Smith Square with a Viennese-themed gala to open their 2015 season. You can expect more than a few waltzes and plenty of memorable melodies from their emerging artists, who will be sharing the stage with alumni from previous productions. Simon Butteriss comperes this musical journey across Europe and beyond, while Oliver Gooch conducts Orpheus Sinfonia.
The programme is to include excerpts from Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow and Opera Danube’s forthcoming production Orpheus in the Underworld, as well as lesser known operetta gems by Lehár, Romberg and Kalman.
