Fresh air and classic movies: a winning combination coming to a bit of grass near you
Pop-Up Screens aim to bring brilliant films to cool locations. For this one head to the Guildhall for a lot of lovely food, amazing popcorn and a fully stocked bar. If you’d prefer to bring your own picnic that’s ok, but it must be noted you will be missing out on burgers from the guy that supplies Harrods. This time around it's Gladiator. Maximus Decimus Meridius (Commander of the Armies Of The North, and all that) is betrayed when Commodus, the ambitious son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, murders his father and seizes the throne. Reduced to slavery, Maximus rises through the ranks of the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor. One of the greatest epics ever made, this is a truly spectacular piece of film and is sure to get you just as excited as the (hopefully) beaut weather and all the rest of the goodies at Pop-Up Screens Outdoor Cinema. Certificate: 15. Runtime: 2 hour 28 minutes. Bring stuff to keep you warm/dry in the British weather and something to sit on. Please do not bring a tent. Doors open 30 minutes before the start time. The film starts when it gets dark.
"Meaty and satisfying."
