The pirates map, the villainous crooks and the magic that is... The Goonies
Pop Up Screens aim to bring brilliant films to cool locations. For this one head to Tudor Barn in Eltham for a lot of lovely food, amazing popcorn and a fully stocked bar; but if you’d prefer to bring your own picnic that’s ok, but it must be noted you will be missing out on burgers from the guy that supplies Harrods. Tonight’s offering on the screen is The Goonies, which is celebrating its 30-year anniversary this year. A firm family fave, this movie follows an enterprising group of boys who tackle the threat to their neighbourhood the only way they know how: by finding pirate treasure. With the villainous fratellis hot on their heels, the gang risk life and limb (sort of) to beat them to the finish line. "Find me another kids' film featuring economic struggle, opera, disabled brothers and a piano made of bones and I'll do the truffle shuffle myself." – The Guardian "The Goonies has every imaginable funhouse flourish. It has crooks, bats, cobwebs, skeletons, a lovable monster, an underground grotto and a treasure hidden by some of the most considerate, clue-loving pirates who ever lived." – New York Times Certificate: 12. Runtime: 1 hour 39 minutes. You do need to bring something to sit on, there’s always plenty of room so you can get inventive. Please don’t bring a tent though... it’s just showing off.
"A rollicking good time."
