For a film made in 1939, this one still has heart, brains + courage
There are hundreds of little things that make Oz a classic. The ruby slippers, the flying monkeys, the tear-inducing "Over the Rainbow". Brilliant costumes combined with Judy Garland's impeccable turn as Dorothy have made it a camp classic, as well as a heartwarming family tale. It uses its emotional tug to remind us all there's no place like home. There are food stalls and a fully licensed bar on site (not included in the ticket price, and cash only), but feel free to bring your own picnic as well. Over 18s only. General admission. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing as the event is outside. Do bring something to sit on, don't bring a tent. Doors at 7pm, film starts at 8:30pm.
"It's a movie that speaks of Hollywood's unacknowledged fascination with the exotic, the mad, the unreal."
