19th century classic given a 21st century kiss of life
Rachmaninoff's Symphony No 1 was widely written off in 1897, but Nikolay Findeisen saw the beauty in it, recognising the deep emotions the composer had conjured. Vladimir Jurowski conducts London Philharmonic Orchestra in a stirring rendition of Rachmaninoff, accompanied by works from Szymanowski and Scriabin.
