Must-see comedy starring Alec Guinness
Regent Street Cinema is Britain's oldest picturehouse. On 21 February 1896, it became the birthplace of cinema in the UK, when the Lumière brothers used their Cinematographé machine to show the earliest of moving images to a paying audience. Having reopened in May 2015, the staff have been dedicated to engaging with the cinema's groundbreaking legacy, showcasing everything from classic films, internationally acclaimed work and even the odd blockbuster. In The Ladykillers, an oddball group of bank robbers planning their next job decide to rent rooms from an innocent old lady who believes they are musicians. But, when one of the gang’s case falls open and reveals a stash of banknotes, their landlady vows to report the men to the police. Certificate: U. Running time: 1 hour 44 minutes.
