Remembering Alexander Cockburn

Discussing one of the foremost commentators on US politics + culture

" of the left's most perceptive and entertaining commentators."

- The Guardian (on Alexander Cockburn)
Although Alexander Cockburn was born in Scotland, the US became his stomping ground. A political writer of much force, his work was characterised by his radical style and commitment to developing an alternative to Republican politics. Often one of the Left's most vocal supporters (and critics), his work is a tour de force of insightful journalism. There will be readings from his final work, finished shortly before his death in July 2012, which is a winding journey through political scandal, corruption, and American culture. Journalist Charles Glass chairs tonight's discussion, with Patrick Cockburn (his brother), Ellin Stein, and Joe Paff. General admission. Best available seating allocated by the venue on arrival. Please arrive on time as latecomers may not be admitted.
