Discover the story behind the iconic Soane tombGrab a nutritious breakfast of London history this Feb, as Sir John Soane's Museum celebrate one of Soane’s most iconic designs – The Soane Family Tomb. Designed by Soane himself and now his final resting place, it went on to change the British streetscape forever when Sir Giles Gilbert Scott took it as his inspiration when designing London’s famous red telephone box.
The talk examines the restoration of the tomb by Julian Harrap Architects, and takes place in the grave yard of St Pancras Old Church. Morbid though it may seem, this is sure to provide some truly interesting insight into the London architecture that evolved from Soane's work. The talk won't leave you on an empty stomach though – it's followed by a pastry breakfast in the church.
