Live music and entertainment for a very worthy cause
Raise the Volume is a secret charity gig presenting an eclectic mix of artists and speakers in aid and support of women with chronic pain. From folk to jazz, choral to electro-swing and ska, acts include Molatov Jukebox, Frankie Forman, City Academy Singers and a very special Mercury-nominated guest. All proceeds go towards the research and treatment of chronic pain. Hosted by Dana Alexander (Chortle and Black Comedy Awards nominated comedian) Raise The Volume will showcase a lineup of mostly female singer-songwriters, bands and speakers keen to support the cause. For this secret gig in Hackney, the lineup includes electro-swing ska band Molatov Jukebox, fronted by lead singer Natalia Tena (of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones fame), singer-songwriter Frankie Forman fresh from Glastonbury and a residency at Ronnie Scotts, the City Academy Singers adding a choral twist to some well-known classics, and a very special Mercury-nominated and double-platinum guest artist. Food is provided courtesy of Papi's Pickles, an award-winning social enterprise that works with unemployed women from India and Sri Lanka. Fresh off the back of hosting a weekly event at Gordon Ramsey's Bread Street Kitchen, Papi's Pickles' chefs will be serving a delectable selection of canapés for the VIPs as well as a street food stall outside. Local bar, The Bonneville Tavern, will be donating their time to help run the main bar as well as mixing up their signature cocktails for the VIPs. With help from teams involved with Shangri-La and the Greenpeace stage at Glastonbury, as well as event coordinators previously involved with Ivor Novello awards rounding things off, this promises to be a thoroughly entertaining evening. Update: we can now announce that the very special, Mercury-nominated guest is the one and only Lisa Hannigan. Lisa's sultry dulcet tones are sure to cap off a perfect evening. VIP Tickets include complimentary drinks, canapés and waiter service with balcony seats. Bars open 6:30pm. Show starts at 7:30pm prompt. Food stalls available on site throughout. Event ends at 11pm.
