Zurich's vibrant music scene comes to London to electrify Rich Mix ShoreditchPianist Nik Bärtsch’s wholly original sound — described variously as ritual groove music or zen-funk — creates a powerfully hypnotic atmosphere, communicated via live performances that have engrossed audiences worldwide. Delivering "cool modules instead of true songs, polyrhythmic funk that’s hypnotically tenacious" (Rolling Stone), Nik performs in a special collaboration with bass clarinettist Sha, who’s sonorous sounds have made a crucial contribution to the sound of Nik’s groups Ronin and Mobile. This special club set follows Nik's sold-out concerts at the EFG London Jazz Festival.
OY are Swiss-Ghanaian vocalist and musician Joy Frempong and drummer and producer Lleluja-Ha. They perform a collection of colourful songs weaving OY's own strains of electronica, whirling drums and captivating and humorous storytelling. The music is laced with distinctly African musical and lyrical elements, driven by Joy's soulful, melodic and arrestingly versatile voice. Their live shows are exhilarating and have electrified crowds from Sonar to SXSW by way of Montreux Jazz and more.
