Rock out to the shang-a-lang sound of the music

"…filthy fun…"

- BBC Radio 4
Actually, this ain’t no musical. This is a new production from Catherine Johnson, writer of that smashiest of hits, Mamma Mia! Warmly and hilariously exploring themes of friendships and relationships, it follows three 40-year-old women on a ’70s weekend away in Butlin’s – with a large injection of the Bay City Rollers. What comes next is a roller coaster of fun and debauchery, as we reconsider and realise that nostalgia’s not all it’s cracked up to be. This play hasn’t been performed in London since 1998, so don’t miss out this time. Best available seating allocated on arrival. Not suitable for children. Please note: does not contain Abba. But nostalgia, and the Bay City Rollers, aren’t what they used to be and nothing quite goes according to plan… Shang-a-Lang is an outrageous, ruthlessly funny examination of friendships and relationships, of reaching a certain age and reassessing, and of realising that teenage dreams maybe aren’t so hard to beat after all. ‘…filthy fun…’ Loose Ends, BBC Radio 4 Catherine Johnson is the writer of international stage and screen smash Mamma Mia! Shang-a-Lang was first produced at The Bush Theatre in 1998 and hasn’t been seen in London since – don’t miss it this time! ‘…has the rare knack of making you roar with laughter at the same time as punching you in the solar plexus…’ Financial Times on Catherine Johnson. NOT A MUSICAL. DOES NOT CONTAIN ABBA. NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE TRAILER
