Shuffle Film Festival: Beasts Of The Southern Wild
A poetic epic, one of 2012's most under-rated films
Shuffle Festival is an annual event which aims to build a more integrated community presence through art, comedy, music, food and film. Taking place in The Horse Chestnut Glade, tonight’s screening is of the multi award-winning epic, Beasts Of The Southern Wild. Set at the time of the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe, this film is vividly poetic and beautifully therapeutic. Faced with both her hot-tempered father's (Dwight Henry) fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community and unleash ancient aurochs, six-year-old Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) must learn the ways of courage and love. "Beautiful, funny, timely and tender." – Empire "Part film, part hallucination…ambitious and flawed but sprinting with energy." – The Guardian Certificate: 12A. Runtime: 1 hour 31 minutes.
"Challenging, but hugely rewarding."
