If anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving
Join best friends Miles and Jack as they head deep into wine-country on a hilarious and life-affirming odyssey. Adapted from Rex Pickett’s classic novel, which inspired the Academy Award and Golden Globe winning film, the stage adaption has been lovingly modelled on the original story. When a highly-strung author, who is writing his way into a midlife-crisis, and an actor, who is marrying to escape the onset of his, head to Santa Barbara for a week of wine-tasting, they have no idea of what awaits them. When the duo meet Maya and Terra, they learn the true meaning of intoxication and just how full-bodied life can be – for better and for worse. Following a sold out premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse, this production, directed by David Grindley (Journey’s End, The American Plan, Daytona) makes its UK premiere at St James Theatre. Don't miss it. A purpose-built, 21st century arts space; St James Theatre stands on the site of the former Westminster Theatre. Renowned as the hub of Victoria's booming cultural revival, the venue has played host to a number of West End transfers, including Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tell Me On A Sunday. Contains graphic language, nudity and sexual content. Runtime: TBC.
