An immersive exhibition that invites you to hear the painting and see the soundSoundscapes features an amazing lineup of musicians and sound artists, each one of them having selected a painting from the National Gallery collection and composed a new piece of music or sonic art in response. It's as unique as it sounds. Immersive and site-specific, the experience encourages visitors to "hear" the paintings and "see" the sound.
The artists are Nico Muhly (composer of orchestral music, as well as opera and ballet), Susan Philipsz OBE (Turner Prize-winning sound artist), Jamie xx (DJ, music producer, and member of Mercury Prize-winners The xx), Gabriel Yared (Oscar-winning film composer), Chris Watson (BAFTA-winning sound recordist), and Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller (internationally renowned installation and sound artists).
