Music by Copland, Carter and Ives from a fearlessly virtuosic pianist
Tamara Stefanovich's fearless virtuosity has dazzled London audiences in recent years. She returns to the International Piano Series with an all-American recital in the beautiful surroundings of St John's Smith Square. She'll be performing music by Copland, Carter and Ives. In her own words, "the seriousness in the Copland is set against the utter mischief in Carter. The Ives combines ragtime music, with seemingly dreamlike improvisations. It includes experimental elements and memories of popular American music. It surfs on a sea rich with different styles and expression." Programme: - Aaron Copland: Piano Variations - Elliott Carter: Matribute, Sistribute, Intermittences, Caténaires - Charles Ives: Sonata No.1 Tickets allocated will be best available (ranging from a value of £10 to £35).
"The colossal energy of Stefanovich's performance was hugely impressive."
