An astonishing piece of visceral theatre
Spring 1944: seven Soviet soldiers have been captured by the Nazis, stripped naked and abandoned in the locked empty cellar of a monastery in southern Poland. Deprived of all ties to their world, the prisoners redefine their concepts of order and human nature. In order to survive the men resort to murder and cannibalism. How do they reconcile rank, faith, and dignity in such extraordinary circumstances? In 2014 the world premiere of The Curing Room, by David Ian Lee, caused a huge stir at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The acclaimed production proved highly popular with audiences and critics alike and transferred to London for a limited run. Cut Across Productions has reunited director Joao de Sousa and his team under a new banner to bring The Curing Room to a wider audience with a full four week run at The Vaults Theatre. The original cast of The Curing Room have come together again for this production with one exciting new addition. Powerful, thought-provoking and at times darkly funny, The Curing Room is a bold, daring thriller based on true events. Features full-frontal male nudity. Over 16s only. Valid ID required.
