Sassy adaptations of jazz and rock'n'roll classics
You know whens someone asks you what kind of music you like, and it is just impossible to answer in one succinct sentence? Well, Paris-born, London-based singer-songwriter Florence Joelle has the same problem. She was raised on jazz and grew up surrounded by the music of the Paris streets - the Gypsy art of Django Reinhardt, bal musette and North African rai. Later, Florence started collecting rock’n’roll, doo-wop, Latin jazz, and early blues. Her music draws from all these influences, carving out a unique sound that, although deeply rooted in the past, vibrates in the present. Expect her own songs showcased alongside sassy adaptations of jazz and rock'n'roll classics. Dress code: smart casual.
"Joelle's sensuous purred vocals and sprightly jazzy songs lend proceedings a contemporary edge while circumventing mere nostalgia."
