Peek into the dark side of the American dreamIt’s kinda like a Cinderella story turned backwards…and completely on its head. If the American dream is owning a house, billionaires David and Jackie Siegel went all out for one helluva fairytale. In 2007 they set out to build a Versailles-style mansion (said to be bigger than the White House) complete with sushi bar, bowling alley, 30 bathrooms, the works. But with all the epic drama of a Shakespeare tragedy, all that came to a halt as the market crashed…along with their elaborately decadent dreams.
Check out what happens to this over-indulgent couple and chime in at the Q+A with the director, Lauren Greenfield after the screening. We’re positive you’ll have all sorts of ridiculous questions.
‘The loss of grotesque wealth has never been so entertaining – or weirdly moving – as in this riches-to-rags documentary.’
