Putting danger back into the jazz sound"Woodshedding" is a musician's term meaning "going off to practice." It's typically used by jazz musicians to suggest a devotion to getting it right. Everybody at Smitty's spends significant time in "the shed", so we thought it would be the perfect name for our new weekly Thursday night concerts.
TJ Johnson is a legend of Broadway Market. You'll have seen and heard him at the bar when one of the band shouts "Hey TJ, come do a tune!". Tonight is a chance to hear his singular take on the blues in a collaboration with Smitty's guitarist, Dave Archer.
Each week we invite guests and friends from across the musical landscape into "The Shed". With Smitty's creative direction, they'll work on new material and collaborate with new artists to perform a specially curated and arranged set.
