The Spy's Choirbook
A musical gift from 1516 performed by candlelight
The Spy's Choirbook is one of the greatest 16th-century musical manuscripts in the British Library collection. It is the work of Petrus Alamire, who led one of the most acknowledged musical scriptoriums in all of Europe. Only the best could take on the mission of bringing it to life. Handy, then, that Alamire boasts some of the finest consort singers in the world. They and English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble will unleash their talents on the stage of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for a performance of unlimited potential.
"The performances are meticulous, the sound rich, and the effect often sumptuous."
