Talking animals, romance and murder...and a lot of laughs
The Roxy Bar and Screen is perhaps one of London's best-kept secrets. Tucked away behind thick red curtains, the screening room has something of a speakeasy feel about it – expect comfy couches, cosy armchairs, leather sofas, tables and barstool all set in front of the big screen. Your ticket also includes any main dish from the Roxy menu before you tuck into the main event. Tonight’s offering 2015’s The Voices. The Voices might seem like an unlikely coupling. Graphic novelist and director Marjane Satrapi of Persepolis fame teaming up with rom-com dream Ryan Reynolds. But this isn’t the romantic fluffball it’s seemingly packaged as. Oh no. This dark comedy sees Reynolds play a schizophrenic who speaks to his pets…with the cat goading him to murder his prospective girlfriends. "An ultra-black, just-so-wrong comedy."
