Discover the story of the graffiti artist-turned-superstarWhat is it?
A Time Out-only evening at the Barbican’s Basquiat: Boom for Real exhibition.
Who was Jean-Michel Basquiat? His star may have burned bright and short – he tragically died aged 27 in 1988 – but the New York artist, poet and musician was still hugely influential, as will be explored in this exhibition at the Barbican, his first major UK retrospective. We’ve partnered with the Barbican to hold this evening event just for Time Out readers. There’ll be a drinks reception among the tropical plants of the Garden Room, before assistant curator Lotte Johnson goes on to introduce the show, and lift the lid on the Brooklyn-born artist who became an art world superstar. This is your chance to get up close and personal with the coolest exhibition of the autumn season. This ticket includes one complimentary glass of wine at the drinks reception.
